Tan Kheng Hua is a Singaporean actress who starred in the 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians and in the martial arts television series Kung Fu in 2021.

Tan became interested in performing after enrolling in a theatrical elective at Indiana University. She started working in public relations after moving back to Singapore and continued acting in her leisure time.

She earned a Bachelor of Science (magna cum laude) in public and environmental affairs from Indiana University.

The Waiting Room by John Bowen, which was led by her cousin Ivan Heng, was Tan’s first stage performance. Tan had to wait over a decade to start working as an actress full-time. In the theater, Tan is a part of the original casts of iconic pieces including Falling, for which she received her second Life, and Beauty World, Lao Jiu, Descendants of the Admiral Eunuch, Animal Farm, and Cooling Off Day. Tan’s most well-known television performance was as Margaret in Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd, Singapore’s longest-running and most popular sitcom, for which she received an Asian Television Award for Best Actress (Comedy).

Tan also develops theater outside of Singapore, such as No.7, an original play commissioned by the Georgetown Festival in Penang in 2011. No. 7 had a waiting list but was sold out.

In Penang’s Georgetown Festival in 2014, she organized The SIN-PEN Colony, a gathering of 64 Singaporean and Malaysian artists, to honor the linked histories of gastronomy, visual art, music, theater, and design between the two towns.

The theater portion of The SIN-PEN Colony, 2 Houses, was completely sold out in just four days. The Twenty-Something Theatre Festival in 2016 and Tropicana The Musical, which debuted to rousing acclaim in April 2017, were both created and produced by her.
