After an intense month of dedicated fans voting, we can finally announce the winners of the 2017 CelebMix Awards! The dedication and passion fans have showcased while voting for their favourites truly show that they have a special bond with their idols.
We want to congratulate every single winner along with their fans, who made sure that they can now call themselves winners at the CelebMix Awards 2017.
Single of the Year: ‘Sign of the Times’ – Harry Styles
2017 marked the breakthrough of Harry Styles’ solo career. His first single ‘Sign of the Times’ was released on 7 April 2017, by Erskine and Columbia Records, and it was written by Harry himself alongside Ryan Nasci, and Mitch Rowland. ‘Sign of the Times’ was critically acclaimed and has been certified platinum in the US and gold in the UK, where it reached number one on UK Singles Chart. It is undoubtedly one of the greatest singles of this decade with its David Bowie vibes, gorgeous melody, and inspiring lyrics.
Album of the Year: ‘Harry Styles’ – Harry Styles
As well as winning Single of The Year, Harry Styles has also won the award for Album of the Year with his self-titled debut album. The album was released on 12 May 2017 and just like ‘Sign of the Times’, it was loved by both fans and critics. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and it also debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.
It was obvious that Harry put all of his heart and soul into this album and it ended up being a collection of beautiful tracks, which can be played over and over again. One thing is for sure: It’s a timeless album that we will love for the rest of our lives.
Best New Artist: Camila Cabello
Camila Cabello’s solo career skyrocketed in 2017 after releasing hit songs such as ‘Crying in the Club’ and ‘Havana’. In a short time, Camila has made a name for herself in the music industry, while still staying true to herself and her roots. Her much-awaited and highly anticipated debut album will be released on January 12, 2018 (check out the tracklist here) – and we cannot wait!
Best Male Artist: Shawn Mendes
This year’s CelebMix Award for Best Male Artist goes to Shawn Mendes. Every year, his fans show the world how dedicated and appreciative they are, and how much love they have for him and this year was no exception. 2017 was an amazing year for Shawn, touring his 2016 album ‘Illuminate’ and releasing the video for his single ‘There’s Nothing Holding Me Back’, which currently has over 370,000,000 views on YouTube. The bond Shawn has with his fans shines brighter every year, which is why he was voted Best Male Artist of 2017.
Best Female Artist: Ariana Grande
Although Ariana Grande didn’t release an album in 2017, the singer still showed that she is worthy of the Best Female Artist title. Her third studio album ‘Dangerous Woman’ was released in 2016, however, it still dominated the charts this year. This year, Ariana has truly proven that the limit for her talent does not exist and that she has a heart made of pure gold. We’re certain that Ariana will continue to dominate the music industry in 2018.
Best Collaboration: ‘Back To You’ – Louis Tomlinson ft. Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals
If you look back on music in 2017, one collaboration is sure to stand out amongst the others. With a catchy tune, relatable lyrics, and some of the hottest names in music: the song was a sure-fire hit. ‘Back to You’ is a song that you don’t grow tired of listening to. It is a song we love because it embodies part of life that we all experience, even if we want to pretend we don’t. There’s always someone we run back to, even when they burn us. Or worse, we burn them. Bebe and Louis have the perfect voices for the song, they invite you to sing along with them as they give the song an anthem feel. Seriously, listen to the song with your windows down and you’ll get it. Congratulations, Louis Tomlinson, Bebe Rexha, and Digital Farm Animals: ‘Back to You’ is a tune.
Best Group: BTS
2017 was undoubtedly a busy but hugely successful year for BTS. They began the year with their Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour and rounded it off by being the first K-Pop group to perform at the American Music Awards. The seven boys also released an EP and multiple singles that topped charts all across the world. It is obvious that BTS has a special bond with their fans, who never fail to show their never-ending love for their favourite band. It is a connection that all artists and fans should aspire to have and it is inspiring to see their mutual love, support and respect for each other. We cannot wait to see what 2018 brings for BTS.
Best Tour: Dangerous Woman Tour (Ariana Grande)
One of the most anticipated tours of 2017 was Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman world tour, where the talented superstar performed songs from her album of the same name. It was an empowering, strong and fun-filled show, which proved that Ariana is not just a talented singer: She is a phenomenal performer. On May 22, 2017, the tour (and the rest of the world) was hit by a devastating tragedy when a terrorist bombing killed 22 people and injured over 500 more after the show at Manchester Arena. Ariana arranged a benefit concert, One Love Manchester, which took place on June 4 at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. The benefit concert’s goal was to aid the bombing victims and affected families, and it ended up raising over £17 million. After this, Ariana went back on the road to continue the Dangerous Woman tour. In doing this, she showed that the 22 beautiful souls will always be remembered. She, alongside her crew and fans, proved that we can never let terrorists win and that in the end love and unity will prevail.

Best Fandom: Directioners
For the second year in a row, Directioners have won the CelebMix Award for Best Fandom. They have proven that even though their favourite boys are on a hiatus as a band, they’re still 100 % supportive of them. In 2017, they have supported Liam, Louis, Harry, and Niall unconditionally – Directioners’ love for them knows no bounds. The One Direction fandom is still a family and that is why Directioners are the Best Fandom of 2017.

Best Dancer: Maddie Ziegler
Maddie Ziegler is only 15 years old but she has already accomplished great things in her dancing career. She was a main cast member of the reality show Dance Moms, a judge on So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation, appeared in six Sia music videos, as well as going on tour with the international star. The talented dancer has proved that she’s a hardworking, passionate individual who has a long and successful career ahead of her.
Social Media Personality: Lottie Tomlinson
When one thinks of a social media personality, it’s always someone bright, vibrant, and who is able to connect with audiences around the world. They’ve got to have a certain spark about them that keeps both old and new followers coming back for more. Social media personalities can become online sensations for many reasons. Our winner this year, Lottie Tomlinson, isn’t just a talented MUA, she’s a force to be reckoned with in the beauty industry. She uses colours, sparkle, and glam to create looks we all want to try, and ones that are too daring for us to attempt. Not only is she talented, she engages with her followers and sets an example of family and friendship.
Favourite YouTuber: Lilly Singh
Lilly Singh is not only one of the most successful YouTubers; she is also one of the most loved by viewers, who are constantly inspired by the fierce woman. Lilly reached over 12 million subscribers on her YouTube channel this year. She also released her first book, was cast in a new show, Fahrenheit 451, on the HBO network, and was named a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, advocating for children’s rights. With all her accomplishments this year it is not hard to see why Lilly is everyone’s favourite YouTuber. Lilly Singh is truly a Super Woman.
Best Reality Show US: The Voice
The most recent season of The Voice has just ended with Chloe Kohanski winning. However, something tells us that everyone is already excited for the next season. For the 13th season, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton returned as coaches, while Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson replaced Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys. We cannot wait to see what the next season brings!

Best Reality Show UK: X Factor
The 14th season of the X Factor just finished and we’re already excited for the next one – and according to the votes, so are you! For the second year in a row, X Factor has won the award for Best Reality Show UK. This year, Dermot O’Leary once again presented the reality show, while Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, and Simon Cowell all returned as judges. Earlier this month, Rak-Su were crowned the winners of this year’s series.
Best Drama Show: SKAM
Skam is unlike any drama show we have ever seen before. It gives you a unique insight into the characters’ lives, which helps you to relate to them even more. During the course of four seasons, Skam tells the story of teenagers’ lives from a new perspective. You get to see the characters at their most vulnerable through every little moment in their lives. This show will make you feel like no other TV show has done before and you will go through a wide spread of emotions while watching it. The Norwegian show has captured the hearts of millions of fans worldwide, which is why it is not a surprise it has won the award for Best Drama Show in 2017.
Best Comedy Show: Modern Family
Modern Family has been on the air since 2009 but it is still one of the funniest comedy shows right now. Season after season the incredible cast and crew have managed to produce a show that brings everyone together. It is not a surprise that Modern Family has won the hearts (and the votes) of everyone, which is why it is the Best Comedy Show of 2017.
Best Film: Dunkirk
When it was announced that Christopher Nolan was working on Dunkirk with a 2017 release, it was anticipated that the film would make a splash. However, we aren’t sure anyone was prepared for the worldwide phenomenon that was born with Nolan’s vision. The cast, including names Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, and Harry Styles, captivated audiences around the world. Dunkirk appealed to diverse audiences and has been hailed as one of the best films of 2017, and one of the most striking history films of all time. So it comes as no surprise that Dunkirk won Best Film at our CelebMix awards, too.
Inspirational Teen: Millie Bobby Brown
Most Inspirational Teen is a big title to hold and Millie Bobby Brown is a girl who has become our winner this year. Known for her role as Eleven on Stranger Things and being one of the most fashionable teens on the planet right now, let’s be honest: it’s hard to not know Millie. It’s clear why Millie has won this award thanks to her signing with IMG Models (the dream for youngsters who may believe modelling is out of their reach!), fangirling over Emma Watson just like we would, and revealing how despite having partial hearing loss she continues to sing and do what she loves.
Millie might be young but she’s a force to be reckoned with. She is constantly supporting charities in need such as UNICEF, ONECampaign for girl’s education, spreading love on @Milliestopshate, and reminding us all to never take life for granted. Millie is the perfect inspirational teen and we look forward to seeing her journey continuing in 2018!
Philanthropist of the Year: Louis Tomlinson
By definition, a philanthropist is someone who seeks to promote the welfare of others. When it comes to giving of oneself to make sure others have what they need, Louis Tomlinson embraces it. He was given a platform by his fans and has always used it to give back. Even before he was part of a worldwide music phenomenon, Louis gave back too, alongside his late mum Johannah. It comes as no surprise to us that he continues his mother’s legacy still today.
Louis doesn’t just give where he can, either. He takes part in charities and organizations that allow him to physically be part of the change or assistance that so many people desperately need. From charity football games to a Cinderella Ball, he makes sure to be as involved as possible, even with an insanely busy schedule. Louis’ kindness and generosity know no bounds, which is why we’re proud to announce that he is our Philanthropist of the Year.
